Autumn Equinox Portal: You May Know You’ve Changed by What You Can No Longer Tolerate

Sunlight streams through a misty pine forest, with tall tree trunks and orange-brown autumn leaves creating a warm, tranquil scene

There is a strange period in transformation when you know something has changed, but nothing outside of you looks dramatically different yet. You have not necessarily gotten the new job, met the person, launched the thing, moved across the country, or received whatever physical evidence you thought would prove that you had entered a new chapter. And yet, you can feel it. Something that used to feel normal suddenly does not.

That was one of the most interesting ideas to emerge from our Autumn Equinox ceremony inside The Unity Code. We tend to look for transformation through addition: What did I receive? What appeared? What opportunity opened? What manifested? But some of the earliest evidence of change may actually appear through what starts falling away.

The harvest is also who you became

We usually think of a harvest as the result of our effort. What did I build? What worked? What grew? What did I finally accomplish?

But there is another harvest that is much easier to miss: the person who now exists because of everything you lived through while creating those results. You may have developed more discernment. You may trust yourself differently. You may have learned what something costs you, what you are willing to work for, or what is no longer worth the energy it requires.

That version of you becomes important when you enter the next season, because you are not walking into it as the person who began the last one.

Your energy may change before your circumstances do

During the ceremony, I kept returning to the idea that we can experience an internal or energetic shift before our analytical mind has fully made sense of it. You may not have the five-point plan for your next chapter. You may not even be able to explain what feels different.

But then the evidence begins.

A decision you have delayed for months suddenly feels obvious. Something you have been chasing loses its appeal. A dynamic you tolerated for years becomes unbearable. A way of operating that once felt protective starts feeling heavy instead.

This is why transformation can be confusing when we only look for evidence in what has been added to our lives. Sometimes the first evidence is subtraction.

Stop demanding that the next chapter look the way you expected

One of the central practices in the ceremony was separating what the human self wants from what may be underneath that desire. We can know the physical outcome we want while having far less clarity about the deeper experience we are actually trying to create through it.

That does not make the desire wrong. It simply means there may be more than one path to it, and our insistence on controlling exactly how the next chapter must unfold can make us overlook what is already changing.

The more interesting question may become: What is trying to evolve through me now?

You do not necessarily need to answer it immediately. Instead, watch.

Notice what feels easier. Notice what feels heavier. Notice what activates you differently. Notice what you suddenly know. Notice what no longer deserves the same amount of your energy.

The next version of you may not introduce itself by handing you everything you have been asking for.

It may introduce itself by making the old version impossible to keep living.
