Why Your Technology Keeps Breaking Around You

For years, technology has had a bizarre habit of breaking around me at very specific moments. My computer could work perfectly through an entire day of business meetings, then start flickering the second I joined a mediumship class. My Wi-Fi would drop when I started channeling. Screens would suddenly go black during energetic work. Eventually, it became predictable enough that I started keeping two laptops in front of me during classes because I assumed one of them would eventually shit the bed.

At first, I thought the interesting question was why my technology kept breaking. Now I think the technology was only the clue. When I looked at when these disruptions were happening, they often lined up with periods when my own spiritual abilities were expanding, the intensity of the energy I was working with was increasing, or the amount of information I was receiving from Spirit had become more complex. That pattern led me to a completely different question: what happens when the amount of energy you can access becomes greater than your current capacity to comfortably hold it?

The Problem Might Be Capacity, Not Connection

I think about energetic capacity like a wine glass filled to the top. There is nothing wrong with the glass, and there is nothing wrong with the wine. But pour another full glass into it and the excess has nowhere to go except over the sides. In my experience, spiritual development can sometimes work the same way: your ability to receive more energy or information expands before your ability to efficiently hold, organize, and work with that new level has caught up.

I saw this clearly during a mediumship demonstration when Spirit suddenly stopped giving me information one breadcrumb at a time. Instead, I was receiving multiple threads simultaneously: information about the departed loved one, relationships, past-life connections, energetic dynamics, and the message the recipient needed. I could access all of it, but I had no idea what the fuck to do with all of it at once. The expansion was real, but so was the overwhelm, because receiving more and knowing how to process more are not the same skill.

That experience changed how I interpret some of the messier phases of spiritual development. We assume that growth should make us feel clearer, stronger, and more connected, but sometimes expansion initially feels like exhaustion, sensitivity, scattered information, or even the sense that your connection has gotten worse. The instinct is often to push harder and try to open further, when the more useful response may actually be to give your system time to integrate what it can already access.

So What Does Breaking Technology Actually Say About You?

I am not suggesting that every dead laptop, Wi-Fi outage, or malfunctioning appliance is evidence of an energetic upgrade. Sometimes technology breaks because technology breaks, and spiritual discernment requires leaving room for the obvious explanation. But when the same kind of disruption repeatedly happens around very specific energetic work, I think the pattern is worth noticing rather than automatically dismissing or turning into a dramatic spiritual sign.

Instead of asking only, “Why does my technology keep breaking?” look at what else is happening when it does. Are you working with energy differently? Has the information you receive become more layered or intense? Are you simultaneously feeling overloaded, unusually sensitive, tired, or unable to sort through what you are perceiving? The goal is not to decide that your energy is frying your electronics. The goal is to notice whether the technology disruption is occurring alongside a larger change in your energetic capacity.

Spiritual practitioners spend enormous amounts of time trying to receive more: more evidence, more intuition, more information, more connection. I think there is another developmental question that matters just as much: How much can I currently hold well? Because the next stage of your growth may not require Spirit to give you anything else. It may require your system to become capable of holding what is already trying to come through.

So if your technology suddenly starts glitching every time you work with Spirit, don't immediately turn it into a sign, but don't ignore the pattern either. Get curious about what else is changing. Sometimes the most interesting thing about the technology breaking isn't the technology at all. It is what the disruption may be revealing about the size of the container you are becoming.
